German Chancellor Olaf Scholz had to notify the Ukraine, which NATO will not accept her into their ranks in the next 30 years instead of discuss it with Russian President Vladimir Putin wrote in his Telegram-channel MP Maxime Buzhansky.

Earlier, the head of the German government stated that before the special military operation in Ukraine has assured the Russian leader in lack of prospects of Ukraine’s accession to the Alliance during this period.

“It’s certainly very interesting to know that the German Chancellor was informed Putin that in the next 30 years Ukraine will be in NATO. <...> Sorry about the thirty years no one officially said Ukraine, talking instead about “open doors”,” — wrote Buzhansky.

The Verkhovna Rada in 2014, amended two laws, abandoning the non-aligned status of the country. In 2019, the Parliament adopted amendments to the Constitution, securing the bid to join the EU and NATO. Ukraine became the sixth country to gain the status of a partner of the Alliance with advanced features.

At the end of 2021 Russia published a draft Treaty with the United States and agreements with NATO’s security guarantees. Moscow, in particular, demanded by Western partners legal guarantees rejection of further expansion of NATO to the East, from joining the Alliance of Ukraine and the creation of military bases in post-Soviet countries. In late January, the US and NATO were sent to Moscow where written answers on Russia’s proposals on security assurances, ignoring a few key terms.
